WELCOME NOTE FROM THE BSG PRESIDENT

Welcome to members of all categories, sections and persuasions to the website for our 2014 annual meeting in Manchester and I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible there. Indeed we welcome non-members and delegates from industry to join us for what promises to be a splendid occasion. I am putting to one side all my natural Liverpudlian instincts to embrace Manchester in what will be a great boost for gastroenterology in the North-West! In these times of huge change in the NHS it is vital that those of us who strive to provide the best services to our patients with gastrointestinal and liver diseases come together to share our research, innovations and developments. I'm really grateful to our senior secretary Cathryn Edwards and all those that have assisted her in putting together the first-class programme, and there will be plenty of opportunities to make new and renew old friendships in and around the excellent venue. Please come!

Sir Ian Gilmore
President British Society of Gastroenterology
